Clamping Hardware
Accurately placing tooling plates on T-slotted tables requires two locating keys. These keys should be placed in the middle table slot. Standard and thick rectangular plates can both be placed.
These plates are fashioned using T Nuts.
A clamping strap is a basic tool composed of three elements: a strap, a fastener, and a heel support. Pressure is applied to the fastener, which transmits it through the strap to the object it is holding. This is done while the heel support serves as the pivot and support for the back of the strap.
T nuts are often used in strap clamp assemblies.
To begin using this product, drill a hole through the material you are using. The hole should be around the same size as the nut, to fit through without much room. On the other side, place a washer onto the bolt. Move the bolt threads through the drilled hole and begin threading the bolt.
Finally, tighten the bolt so the nut creates a secure hold. Continue tightening until it is all the way in, and the bolt tightens.
T Nuts are commonly used in woodworking applications.
They are tapped to a precise, limited depth so that the threads stop one thread short of going through. This feature stops the stud before it extends through and contacts the bottom of the T slot. This is where continued tightening could jack the nut up and out of the table, breaking the table slot. This important feature prevents accidental damage to expensive machine tables.
