Product Information

Similar to a Locking L or T Pin, this pin instead has a threaded end for a knob. In the fully retracted position, the bushing's spring clip snaps into the pin's radial groove. This holds the pin fully retracted by spring force and positively prevents removal. Spring pressure also holds the pin in intermediate extended positions, an advantage especially if the fixture is turned upside down. Available in pin diameters from 3/16 to 1/2" (6 to 12mm in metric), most in a choice of several pin lengths. Made in USA.

The complete assemblies listed below include a Locking Knob Pin, Locking-Pin Bushing, and Lockscrew. Choice of standard or long bushing in most sizes, for installation in thinner or thicker plates. Locking-Pin Bushings are designed to press fit in a standard reamed hole and can be further secured with the included Lockscrew to positively hold the bushing in place.

Application Information

In fully retracted position, the bushing's spring clip holds the Threaded Pin fully retracted by spring force and positively prevents removal. Spring pressure also holds the pin in intermediate extended positions.

Enhanced Alignment with Retractable Stab Pin: Quick-Release Solution for Precision Applications

Adding a collar to the shaft of the Captive Locking Knob Pin and inserting a spring between the collar and the bushing, users can transform this alignment pin into a 'stab pin.' This modification provides a positive retraction force, allowing the pin to retract swiftly after alignment or positioning tasks. This quick in-and-out function makes the pin ideal for applications where parts need to be accurately aligned or verified and then immediately released, enhancing both efficiency and usability in dynamic setups.
